"Horizons"

For some people the world changes so slowly
they hardly notice it.
Things happen less suddenly in their lives,
and on a small familiar set,
like a stage play.

For others of us,
our horizons have grown so far apart,
it's hard to get our bearings.

I've been trying to find my way home for such a long time,
I've lost track of where it is,
but if I ever do get back to my old neighborhood
I'm sure I'll run into a guy I used to know
for whom nothing much has changed.

I wrote this song for all the guys like Jody
who are still hangin' out on the same old corner.

"POOR JODY."

Poor Jody,
standin’ on the same old corner,
It don't seem like the same old town.
You dreamed of the good life,
where a man could walk alone,
Walked out on a good wife...
Now it's too late, she's gone.

Poor Jody,
leanin’ on the same old lamp post
Watchin' the buses goin' up town
You and the neighborhood
are feelin’ rundown.
Poor Jody...
Don't seem like the same old town.

You're the last of the old gang,
the last hanger-on.
The years seem to fly by.
Oh, where have they gone?

Poor Jody,
leanin' on the same old lamp post
Watchin' the buses goin' up town
You and the neighborhood
are feelin’ rundown
Poor Jody...
Don't seem like the same old town...
